The Story of Film: An Odyssey Review

In my algebra class we watched The Story of Film: An Odyssey, a documentary film about the history of film. In the film it gave history about some great film makers and actors. The documentary was very helpful to my knowledge about history of film (which I do not have much knowledge on). They talked about Charlie Chaplin, who was a great comedic actor and he even began to direct film. Some of the films he directed include Limelight (1952), Citylights (1931), The Kid (1921) and The Great Dictator (1940). Charlie Chaplin became a memorable figure in American film, and even other actors and directors tried to mimic his acting style. Like in one scene of Sunset Boulevard (1950), directed by Billy Wilder, an actor impersonates Chaplin using his facial expressions and comedic prowess. They also talk about many techniques directors l used to make the story come across in silent films. The film was very informative about history of American film.
